Back in 1993, to be a "Web Designer" also meant you were a coder, database designer and, in some cases, network administrator. It was during the infancy of the Internet that I first learned JavaScript, DHTML, CSS, FutureSplash (now called "Flash"), ASP, MS SQL Server and IIS and Apache and more.
Not much has changed.
I've kept up on the standard Web technologies as well as continued to looked forward to emerging technologies. From the introduction of XMLHTTPRequest a few years ago, I've been working with what is now commonly referred to as AJAX. I frequently dig into the hot programming framework on the Web, Ruby on Rails, and I have a solid understanding of MySQL and MS SQL database platforms.
All that being said, I am not a "programmer," however, my experience has provided me with the insight needed to work with and communicate with developers on their level.
